Italian Sliders

These are so good and they are fun to make and eat! I slightly modified the Mini Meatball Subs recipe from AllRecipes.com to come up with these - what we call the Italian Sliders!

Started with ingredients: ground beef, onion, bell pepper, Worcestershire, seasoned salt, pepper, Ritz crackers, spaghetti sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan and King's Hawaiian rolls.
Got the diced pepper ready.
Then the onion!
Added those to the ground beef in a mixing bowl.
In went the minced garlic and Worcestershire.
Followed by the seasoned salt!
Crushed up about half a sleeve of Ritz crackers.
Those went into the bowl next!
Followed by an egg.
And last but not least, the pepper. With clean hands I thoroughly combined the ingredients and formed into 9 small burger patties.
Those went into a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
I flipped once they were well browned on the bottoms.
Next the spaghetti sauce was poured in.
I covered with a lid on and turned the heat down to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
20 minutes later!
I put the rolls on the baking sheet and cut them in half.
On the bottoms went one patty and a spoonful of sauce.
This was followed by a good sprinkling of Parmesan.
And then some mozzarella, and I put mozzarella on the top half of the bun as well.
Those went into the pre-heated oven for about 7 minutes and emerged toasty and melty!
Yumm!! These make a great meal, fun to eat and absolutely delicious! Enjoy!
Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper
1/2 cup crushed butter-flavored crackers
1 egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (26.5 ounce) can spaghetti sauce
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
8 dinner rolls, split

Directions
Combine ground beef, onion, green pepper, crackers, and egg in a large bowl. Season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic, seasoned salt, and pepper; mix well. Form mixture into 8-9 miniature burger patties.

Brown them on both sides (about 5-8 minutes total) in a pre-heated skillet (over medium to medium-high heat). Pour the spaghetti sauce into the pan over the patties. Cover with a lid and simmer in the sauce until patties are fully cooked, about 20 minutes over low heat.

While the patties are simmering, preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Prepare rolls by slicing in half and placing on a cookie sheet. Place one patty, a sprinkle of mozzarella, a sprinkle of Parmesan, and a bit of sauce between on the bottom of each roll. Add some mozzarella, and more Parmesan if desired to the top roll. Place sandwiches in hot oven; bake until cheeses melts and bread begins to brown, about 7 minutes. Top the bottom half with the top, serve hot and enjoy!
